Le Croque Monsieur Revisited

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 8 slices bread (i like honey wheat nut)
  • 1 cup grated or finely chopped swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons fat-free mayonnaise
  • 8 slices ham
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • butter

Recipe

  • 1 make a paste out of the cheese, mustard, and mayonaise.
  • 2 spread the paste on the inside face of each piece of bread.
  • 3 preheat oven on low.
  • 4 put ham on each slice of bread.
  • 5 top with remaining bread.
  • 6 melt butter in large frying pan.
  • 7 beat egg and milk together.
  • 8 dip sandwiches in egg/milk mixture and fry in skillet.
  • 9 when brown on one side, turn over and brown the other side.
  • 10 put sandwiches in oven to keep warm while you do the rest of the sandwiches.
  • 11 serve with fresh fruit.
