Grilled Cheese For Grown-ups

Total Time: 12 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 7 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread (i use whole wheat italian)
  • 2 slices light processed cheese (like kraft)
  • 4 raw asparagus spears
  • butter (optional, for pan) or margarine (optional, for pan)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat a frying pan or griddle and spray with cooking spray or melt butter/margarine over medium heat.
  • 2 break off bottoms of asparagus spears at the point they naturally break.
  • 3 sauté for several minutes.
  • 4 at the same time, either butter your bread or place it plain on the griddle or pan.
  • 5 top with one slice of cheese.
  • 6 do the same with the other slice.
  • 7 when asparagus is tender-crisp, place it on top of one slice of bread.
  • 8 place other slice on top and continue frying to melt the cheese.
  • 9 when the bread is nicely toasted and the cheese is melted enough to hold on the asparagus, remove from heat season with salt and pepper to your liking.
