Mother's Banana Nut Bread

Ingredients

- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 medium egg
- 2 tablespoons buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1/2 pecans, chopped
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups bananas, mashed
Recipe
- 1 sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
- 2 cream shortening, add sugar, and beaten egg.
- 3 mix well.
- 4 mash bananas really well.
- 5 add the buttermilk.
- 6 add chopped pecans to the sifted dry ingredients and fold into creamed mixture gradually , alternating with milk and bananas.
- 7 pour into pan lined with waxed paper, and bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 1 hour.
