Mother's Banana Nut Bread

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 medium egg
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/2 pecans, chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups bananas, mashed

Recipe

  • 1 sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  • 2 cream shortening, add sugar, and beaten egg.
  • 3 mix well.
  • 4 mash bananas really well.
  • 5 add the buttermilk.
  • 6 add chopped pecans to the sifted dry ingredients and fold into creamed mixture gradually , alternating with milk and bananas.
  • 7 pour into pan lined with waxed paper, and bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 1 hour.
